History and Time

They say that time waits on no man
But when the present follows the past
Oh a stretch of road in rural Ohio
History repeats itself in that moment.

Good marning me Neighbours

Took a walk to the grocery store, its a cool, crisp, West Virginia morning. Its always great when you live in a city and when walking you can hear birds singing and wind rustling through trees. Later today will go for a drive, most likely in Ohio, just across the bridge. Go on roads never before taken, enjoy the countryside. Hmmm maybe I will even take some pictures, or video. In an adventurous mood today.

Daydream Picture

It is cold again in West Virginia, I can feel the cold breeze as it sweeps across the Ohio River from Proctorville, bouncing off the buildings in Huntington, freezing my tropical soul. But I have an advantage, I can dream of my beach, Grand Anse beach, ahhh the tropical sun beating down on me, the heat rises from the sand, hugging me like a Grandmother, the smell of the ocean, the flowers blooming, the birds singing, the calypso musing playing. Oh yes, I am there, join me my imagination have room for more.

Here where I live, the mighty Ohio River is nestled between Huntington West Virginia and South Point Ohio, slowly meandering along, reflecting the brilliance of the early Appalachian evening.

Wild and Wonderful

There were stars shining down on West Virginia last night

Reflecting on the Ohio river as it slowly meander along

On the mountain tops, earth tones in the dark

Streams like silver cracks rushing trough the rolling hills

On the deer prancing across a winding road

The laughter that echoes across the valleys

The silhouette of the coal train at the top of a hill

Across from a house where you sit on a porch taking it all in.

Ohio River Sunset Picture by JoshUA Murdock

I want to walk where, the sun reflects of the Ohio river, one splendid yellow eye, looking back at itself, like Mother Nature smiling, pleased to see this Appalachian serenity.

Appalachian Sunset picture by Joshua Murdock

Appalachian Sunset picture by Joshua Murdock

A mountain sunset, over the Ohio river, sandwiched between West Virginia and Ohio. Where country roads can take you home to the hollar, beyond the small concrete jungles, to the green mountains where deer scamper and the creeks run down the hilltop and streams into the Ohio right to settle under the Appalachian sunset.

Freezing my Tropical Butt off

I live in West Virginia, a small town called Huntington. The Ohio river runs alongside the town.  I can walk across a bridge and be in Ohio in tem minutes and a short fifteen minute drive and I will be in Kentucky. For me this is living in the mountains. There were not mountains this big on Grenada. It does not usually get this cold here but lately it have been unbearable, to tell you the truth this “tropical boi” is ready to go back to the ocean. No more frozen fingers, no more frozen toes, no more looking like I am smoking when I blow out of my mouth. No more ears stinging from the cold wind. Welcome, sunshine, shorts yea round ahhhh I feel warm just thinking about it, but here I go to the store now, the cold wind will slap me in the face like an angry drunk.
